We adore Arts & Crafts here at Click Antiques and this tray is a wonderful example.
Hugh Wallis (1871-1943) was a coppersmith working in Altrincham, Cheshire, mostly making trays with distinctive pewter floral inlays and patterned edges.
Hugh studied at the Herkomer Art School in Bushey, Herts and was exhibited at the Royal Academy 14 times and opened his Altrincham studio in 1900.
This copper & pewter tray carries his makers mark and would date circa 1910.
This tray is in very good antique condition with wear and blemishes commensurate with its near 120 year age.
