Fabulous French bronze bust of Marianne of France. She is the personification of the French spirit.
This lovely bronze was made to celebrate the founding of the second French republic in 1848. This bust carries that date to the front.
The bust itself depicts Marianne wearing a Phrygian hat with a lion atop it. Other symbological items include an oak leaf circlet, broken chains around her neck, crossed sword & torch below her bust and and a handshake on the base.
As can be seen in the photographs the casting is of very good quality with lots of detail. It would look great on a marble or faux marble base.
She measures 20cm H x 11cm W at base. She is in excellent condition with no issues whatsoever.
